FIGURATIVE SCULPTURE & WOOD CARVING ART
This is the main theme of the Ton Dias wood carving art works (figurative sculpture). The real message that´s behind what he´d like people see relates, mainly, to COMPLEXITY. There is a huge complexity in this important relationship, inevitable, necessary, worn, fundamental and indispensable, where we can see, clearly, parasitism, mutualism, and where, for a closer look, contradiction and paradox are found in many places.
Ton, in his figurative sculpture works, would like to show to the people what he sees when he look into the human being in contact with other animals that live on the planet, and, also, he wishes to present his way to convey to the wood carving art your personal vision about the theme. Besides, Ton wants to share his sight when he perceive the many dimensions involved in this contact, where man tends to have large differential advantage, but he still does not know to use it to achieve something greater (balance), something that several animals reach, even without having an entire "arsenal" that put in differential advantage to mankind.
The "lost humanity", which seems to be increasingly hard to be found, perhaps can be found not far, in the wild life that surrounds us. For we can find it, it´s necessary, maybe, look to places where there are no humans, but can exist "humanity".
